Inclusion is not just a policy, it’s the foundation of authentic child participation.

The ACERWC Guidelines remind us: unless we design with intention, we risk hearing from only the most visible children.4

In child protection, we talk about participation — but rarely about what happens next.
According to the ACERWC Guidelines, meaningful child participation includes:

-Giving feedback on how a child’s views were used
-Ensuring children feel seen, heard, and valued4

According to the ACERWC Guidelines, meaningful participation is a spectrum.

Yet, in many spaces, we still confuse performance with power.
Real participation means:

- Giving children access to information
- Ensuring their views are taken seriously

The ACERWC Guidelines on Child Participation provide a roadmap for how governments, educators, civil society, and traditional leaders can create environments where children are seen, heard, and respected.4
